✈️ Women in Superconductivity

The “Women in Superconductivity” (WiS) Workshop will be held ad EUCAS 2023 to celebrate the powerful contributions of women in applied superconductivity and how they are shaping the field. Several remarkable scientists will share their stories and achievements, the challenges they faced, and the profound impact they are making in their areas of expertise. WiS aims to inspire, encourage, and empower female scientists and engineers which will lead us into a more inclusive and welcoming environment. Registration is required for attending the WiS Workshop, Register here! Chairs: Anna Kario, University of Twente, the Netherlands and Sanja Milosevic Govedarovic, Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, Serbia To ensure an engaging experience.

✈️ Network Opportunities

Read the following call from the CEO of the newly funded Fusion startup in Munich, Proxima Fusion:

Exciting opportunities for HTS specialists and magnet engineers at Proxima Fusion, a Munich-based stellarator startup that recently spun out of the Max Planck Society

The promise of HTS magnets is revolutionizing the design of fusion reactors across the globe. Together with advances in engineering design, additive manufacturing, and plasma physics, HTS technology is shifting fusion challenges more and more towards engineering rather than physics.
Proxima Fusion is a fusion startup based in Munich and focusing on a class of stellarators labelled as “quasi-isodynamic” (QI). As the first spin-out company from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Proxima aims to bring optimized stellarators from scientific development to energy markets. Starting from the “lessons learnt” of the W7-X stellarator, Proxima Fusion stands on the shoulders of giants, as well as visionary investments in stellarators that make Germany and Europe the indisputable leaders in stellarator engineering.
Starting with an initial focus on computational design, the Proxima team is now aggressively expanding into R&D for HTS stellarator magnets. In partnership with Bilfinger-Noell GmbH, which co-led the development of W7-X’s non-planar LTS magnets, Proxima Fusion is expanding HTS hardware prototyping activities and developing a team of HTS modeling experts based in Munich.
We are looking for the brightest and most mission-driven individuals to join our ambitious program. If you are interested, please check our website (www.proximafusion.com) and/or send an email to fsciortino@proximafusion.com. We will be at EUCAS2023 on Sunday September 3 or Monday September 4 and would be happy to meet in person!
Best wishes,
Francesco, for the Proxima Fusion team
