A database of references to properties of materials for HTS-based devices – HTS-MatRef

This is an open-access, collaborative database designed to support researchers, engineers, and designers working with high-temperature superconducting (HTS) technologies.

HTS-MatRef consolidates references to scientific publications and technical data sources on key material properties of superconductors and auxiliary materials used in HTS-based devices.

This user-friendly online platform offers a centralised resource for locating essential data, thus accelerating the development of HTS applications in power grids and beyond.

Pedagogic materials to support teaching in superconducting engineering

Superconducting Engineering – A Manual for Teachers: offers a comprehensive collection of laboratory assignments and exercises tailored for educators (soon available). A series of instructional videos demonstrating key experiments in superconductivity and providing valuable visual aids for hands-on learning.

Hi-SCALE

This COST Action tackles the challenges that prevent the HTS mass penetration in the electrical system, as concerns related to costs and uncertainty about cryogenics’ reliability, and the idea that only highly skilled professionals will be able to operate the latter. Other causes relate to a lack of systematic knowledge about the design of HTS systems for the grid, and on how to simulate their performance using standard software packages. There is also a general unawareness about these materials, particularly regarding the reliability of the associated technologies.
